About Kevin
I am Kevin W. Kenney, and I am candidate for the Gainesboro District for the Board of Supervisors. I’m a lifelong citizen of Frederick County, I was born here in Winchester, VA. I have lived the last 40 years in the Gainesboro Magisterial District. I attended Frederick County Public Schools from first grade to graduation, I graduated from James Wood High School in 1976 and from Dowell J. Howard Vocational School in Building Trades. I’ve worked my entire career in construction , I started that career in 1977 working for Construction Management Inc in Winchester for 35 years, I started working as an entry level carpenter for the company and progressed and by 2012, when I left the company, I was the General Manager and the lead Estimator for the last 20 years of my employment, responsible for client interaction, sales, estimating, design overview, cost accounting to name a few duties. Then in 2012 I went to work for Caldwell Santmyer for 4 years as a Project Manager, performing sales for private projects and estimating as well onsite supervision of multiple school and industrial projects. At both firms I either managed or was responsible for budgeting, cost accounting, and manpower for multiple projects at a time, and that were in the millions of dollars of construction cost. The last 6 years from 2016, I have been employed by Frederick County Public Schools, currently serving the last 4 years as the Supervisor of Construction for Capital Projects for the school division. I’m responsible for the oversight and management of multimillion-dollar projects that include me negotiating contracts, working with architectural firms for design, cost accounting, managing the budgets for the construction, working with the Finance Department for bond applications, etc. Some of my duties at times include presentations to either the school board and has included presentations and interaction with the board of supervisors to help with the logistics of school construction. To date, I have supervised the construction of Jordan Springs ES, Robert E. Aylor Replacement MS, currently under construction are James Wood HS and Indian Hollow ES renovations. I can add that all these projects were or are under budget and on time as to completion. In my public life, I recently completed serving 10 years on the Frederick County Planning Commission from 2012-2022 representing Gainesboro District, the last 4 years ,2018-2022, I was the Chairman of the Commission. I served from 2004-2022,18 years on the Development Review and Regulations Committee, I currently am serving on the Transportation Committee as well as the Public Works Committee, both as a voting member. I also am currently serving on the Frederick Water Planning Committee as well as the Building Code Appeals Board. I have also served on both the Regional and State Vocational Education Foundation Boards. On my personal side, I’m married to my wife D’Ann nearly 45 yrs., I have 1 grown son who is married with 1 daughter all living in the Gainesboro District and my granddaughter attends Frederick County Public Schools. Lastly, I’m running for Supervisor as an Independent, with the campaign slogan of “Frederick First”, because I believe just what the slogan says, the needs of all the citizens in Frederick County should be first and foremost as our duty, not party politics with agendas driven by others that do not have our citizens and children in our best interests. I also believe that party politics do not belong at the local level. I have served in many capacities in this county and look forward to continuing that service on the Board of Supervisors. |
