Elected in 2019 to a four-year term, I am the Commissioner of the Revenue for Frederick County, Virginia. I have a Master Commissioner of the Revenue certification from the University of Virginia's Weldon Cooper Center since 2022. Before becoming Commissioner, I served in the Commissioner’s office for 12 years as a real estate assessor under the prior Commissioner, Ellen Murphy. I am running for reelection to another four-year term. My campaign slogan is "Frederick First" because I believe strongly in providing the highest quality service to the people of Frederick County, Virginia by upholding state code and county ordinances. I am running as an Independent because I believe that Constitutional Officers should not be elected based on party affiliation since those offices are non-political and require the experience to interpret and abide by the laws of Virginia.
I am a past President of the West Central Deputy Commissioners of the Revenue Association (WCDCORA). As Commissioner, I am an ex officio member of the Frederick County Finance Committee. In 2015, I was elected to the Frederick County School Board serving the Opequon District for a four-year term. In 2016, I was recognized as the Advocate of the Year for the Valley Region of the Virginia School Board Association (VSBA). In 2017, and again in 2018, I was unanimously elected Vice Chairman of the Frederick County (VA) School Board by its seven-member elected panel. Since 2008, I have been a licensed residential real estate appraiser in Virginia. During my career, I have worked in the public sector, in private industry (JLG Industries, Lozier Corporation, and Rubbermaid Commercial Products), and managed state and local political campaigns in Virginia. In 2022, I was elected Lt. Governor of Division 8 in Kiwanis International's (KI) Mason Dixon Region of the Capital District. In 2020, I became President of the Kiwanis Club of Old Town in Winchester after having been a Kiwanian for most of two decades. I have been a Salvation Army (SA) Advisory Board Member since 2016 after having served as its Chairman for two years (2018-2020) during its 100 year anniversary. I have been a Frederick County Educational Foundation (FCEF) Board Member since 2019. I have been a Handley Regional Library System (HRLS) Board Member since 2021. I have been a United Way Northern Shenandoah Valley (UWNSV) Board Member since 2022. I have been a Child Advocacy Center (CAC) Board Member since 2022. In 2005, I graduated from the Republican National Committee's (RNC) Richmond (VA) Field School as a trained political field director. In 2003-2004, I served as Chairman of the Frederick County (VA) Republican Committee (FCRC). In 2001-2003, I served as Vice Chairman of the FCRC. In 2001, I was recognized as the Frederick County Republican Committee's Volunteer of the Year. I graduated from Towson University in Baltimore, MD in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. My wife Kelly and I are restoring a home that is on the National Historic Register in the Newtown-Stephensburg Historic District on Main Street in Stephens City, Virginia. |
